Yesterday was one of my more busier days in working for the church, I was in the church for 10 hours straight! After the morning service had finished, we ran an Alpha day on the Holy Spirit to finish the Alpha course that I had been helping to lead. This ran from 12-4.15 and involved teaching on the Holy Spirit and many many questions from the group on the Holy Spirit! At the end we prayed for those who wanted prayer which for some was a very emotional time. I will definitely be helping run the next Alpha course early next year, it was an amazing opportunity to help answer some of those nagging questions people have and see them move forward on their journey with the Lord. Straight after the Alpha day was ‘Tea and Theology’, which ran from 4.30-6.30 and was on The Trinity. We got one of the lecturers from college to come and give the talk which was amazing. I ended up sitting and chatting with a Muslim girl who had seen it on the church website and wanted to understand what Christians really thought about the Trinity, which was a really interesting conversation. She even said she might come along to the next one which is on how we are saved! After Tea and Theology we had to set up for the evening service of Holy Communion which stared at 7. I had to organise the service earlier on in the week, pulling together the theme and getting my fellow students to do various parts in the service and then I also had to lead the service which was a new experience for me, but a good one. The service went down well and seemed to run smoothly. I had a very long day, but a very good one. I will be getting back to the Island on Monday 20th and Zoe is coming to, so that she can see all the rest of the family, but unfortunately she can only stay two days, as she is flying out to Uganda for two weeks to run a Ugandan youth event she has contact with. Which means I won’t be able to bring her to a church service for you all to meet her, maybe Easter! |
