In the beginning

...God and man enjoyed a close friendship but man rebelled against God and chose to go his own way. This rebellion, called sin, comes between God and us.

There are many ways of trying to bridge this separation between God and us. We may try to be religious. We may attempt to help others and live a good life. Some may try to please God by going to church or giving to charity. All these attempts to win God's approval fail. There is only one way back to God - his way.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." The Bible - John Chapter 14 Verse 6

God sent his Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross. He took the punishment we deserve. God then brought Jesus back to life! Everyone who believes in what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross and then turns away from doing things their own way, will be forgiven by God. The sin that separated us from God is removed and we are given the gift of eternal life with him.

We must make our own choice. Either we put our trust in the Lord Jesus, giving us a life of hope, or we reject him, giving us a life without hope ending in eternal separation from God.
Which will you choose?

Are you ready to open your life to Jesus?

The words of this prayer may help you.
Lord Jesus,
I recognise that you are God and have the right to lead and guide my life. I have rebelled against you, sinning in my thoughts, my words and my actions, sometimes unconsciously, sometimes deliberately.

I am sorry for the way I have lived and ask you to forgive me.
As best I can, I want to turn away from rebellion and obey you. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for dying for me on the cross. Please come into my life and make me the person you want me to be.
Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer and truly believe in your heart what you are saying, from that moment new life with Jesus will begin.

You may want to know how you can start your new life as a Christian… Firstly, tell someone who loves the Lord Jesus.
“If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” The Bible - Romans Chapter 10 Verse 9

Secondly, contact our Vicar Rev. Dr. Peter Pimentel for more information and encouragement. (See the Contact us page). Finally, we would urge you to join our Christianity Explored group to help you learn more about Jesus Christ and the Christian faith.
